Treadmill Versus Elliptical Cross Trainer
It's time for the main event, the two most popular cardio machines ever to have entered the gym area – Treadmill versus Elliptical Cross Trainer! These two are the heavyweights when it comes to cardio exercise and weight management machines.
There are a myriad of people across the world who are members of fitness clubs or gyms. And from those people who patronize such establishments, a large portion of that population are avid users of such exercise equipments which are the likes of treadmills and cross trainers. With all this following on such equipment, one would probably ask which one is the better piece of machinery. Now that we've got your attention, how about you take a little time to read this little piece about the two big heavyweights in the cardio section of your gym.
1. Round One: Weight Loss!
The verdicts are in. When it comes to weight loss, both the treadmill and elliptical cross trainer are both highly effective tools in weight management. But which one helps you lose more weight in a lesser amount of time? This is like a big battle between two heavyweights like Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. Both machines definitely present their pros and cons, but only one can come out on top. And this round goes to the elliptical cross trainer. Why? It's simply because you can burn more calories on the elliptical cross trainer on a lesser amount of time compared to that of the treadmill. Maybe it's because you're working on both your legs and your arms at the same time. Or perhaps it's even because you're pulling your own weight rather than trying to keep up with a conveyor belt.
2. Round Two: Cardiovascular Endurance!
Round two was pretty close, but this round would have to go to the Treadmill. Ding! Ding! Ding! And what's the reason behind the treadmill's victory over the elliptical cross trainer? It's because running is an action that humans do out in the real world rather than an awkward action you take up when you jump on an elliptical cross trainer. Running on a treadmill, affects your breathing a lot more since you're barely catching a breath when you're on this lovely piece of machinery. With the elliptical cross trainer on the other hand, it's more physically demanding on your muscles rather than on your lungs. So if you're intention on using cardio machines is to have a stronger cardiovascular endurance, hop on a treadmill. That'll definitely add some stamina and endurance to you.
3. Round Three: Power consumption!
The last round of the fight with both machines at a deadlock with one round each. Who's going to take first place honors and second place blues? With power consumption, the treadmill takes a hard hit to the chin since it does eat up a lot of energy. Those conveyor belts aren't going to turn themselves you know. With elliptical cross trainers on the other hand, you generate your own power by moving the machine parts by degree of force you exert. Round three goes to the elliptical cross trainer.
Looks like the towel's been thrown, game set and matched. The elliptical cross trainer wins!
