Five Ways To Maintain Your Exercise Equipment
Gym equipments are essential. A lot of people benefit from this especially those who don't have enough time to go jogging around the neighborhood or to go cycling. These equipments help people lose and maintain their ideal weight. These also help them trim their body, build muscles and lose all those flabs.
Gym exercise machines don't come cheap especially those big bulky ones. To keep these machines in tip top condition, you will have to take good care of it. You don't need a maintenance guy to do it for you because maintaining gym machines are easier than you thought.
1. After each use do not forget to wipe down your equipment as well as disinfect it. Wiping it down will keep the dust from piling up which can damage circuits and other moving parts. Disinfecting is as important as wiping it because bodily fluids more specifically sweat can contain microorganisms that can probably harm you and make you sick. Keep in mind that when you are sick you won't be able to tackle with your exercise routine.
2. Equipments that have movable parts should be checked. This will ensure that the machine is working properly. In addition, this will also help you take note of the machines that need repair. The belts of these machines should be tight.
Lose belts can result to a much bigger damage and serious damages on your exercise machine can only mean one thing, bigger repair bills. Lose belts can also reduce the efficiency of your exercise machine. Check the belts regularly if possible once a month or once every two months.
3. Levers and joints on exercise machines should be kept lubricated. This is done to keep the motion smooth. Without lubrication, friction can take place between levers, joints and gears. Such a situation can be damaging to your machine which at the same time reduces its efficacy. So whenever you are cleaning your gym equipment, don't forget to put a drop or two of oil on the levers, joints and gears. When you are done, do not forget to wipe off stray oil spots to keep it from attracting dust.
4. When not in use, it might be best to cover your gym equipment. This can help keep dust from gathering on the machine. Dust particles may be small but it also has the capacity to interfere with the efficiency of your machine's function.
5. When you exercise, it is expected that you will sweat. There are times when you are doing some intense exercise routine and your sweat keeps on falling down from your face and other parts unto the surface of the machine. When this happens, do not forget to wipe your exercise equipment machine dry.
Also, do not forget to wipe it dry after you initially clean it with a damp cloth. Moisture can serve as a breeding ground for disease causing organisms. These organisms can gain entry to your body when you are using the machine and when the time is right these can strike and cause you to get sick. In addition, moisture can also corrode metals as well as weaken the belts making your exercise equipment inefficient.
