Three Uses Of Water In Connection To Exercise

Water, throughout history, has been very important for human civilization. A lot of ancient cities and civilizations had been recorded to have been built near rivers and other bodies of water. Every civilization needed water for it to flourish and to survive. Since water has a lot of uses, it has been a very important part of human life. Water, as important as it is, can also be used for exercise and is an essential part of exercise. Here are some uses for water in connection with exercise.

1. For drinking and refreshment

This basically is a no-brainer. Water is used for drinking and every person needs to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking water is an essential part of human life because basically the human body contains water. In its connection to exercise, water is needed after or even during exercising because we tend to get thirsty as we produce sweat. We also need the water to replenish the water supply inside our body so drinking water during and after exercising is a must.

2. For cooling down and relaxation

After every exercise session, we all end up sweaty and feeling dirty. So after exercising, there is nothing better than taking a shower. Taking a shower does not only make you feel a lot more cleaner but it also cools down your body therefore relaxing it and removing the feeling of having stressed out muscles after the exercise.

3. For exercise equipment

Not only is water used for the consumption of the human body for refreshment and cleansing, it can also be used as an alternative type of equipment to be used for exercises.

• As an alternative to weights and barbells - To do this, materials needed are water and 2 water buckets. Technically what to do is to fill the 2 water buckets with water, but make sure that the weight of the 2 buckets are equal as to make the impression that you are carrying a barbell with equal weights on both sides. After filling the buckets with water, find a pole which can withstand the weight of the 2 water-filled buckets on both sides. Now you have an improvised dumbbell. The exercise matched for the improvised dumbbell is doing some squats while using the contraption created as additional weights.

• Water can also be used as it is without using any other materials. For example, you could jog in a pool but make sure that the water is only waist deep. Jogging in the water can add weight and difficulty to the exercise itself. When on water it is difficult to move at the normal speed making movement slower because of the weight that water adds to your body. If there are no swimming pools around the vicinity or where you live, going to the beach, a river or a lake near you can also be done as the exercise can be done anywhere as long as the water is waist-deep.
