Seven Office Fitness Tips

Sitting in your office will surely not help you burn calories. This is probably the reason why people who work at the office tend to put on some weight. If you don't want that, then here are some simple tips that will help you get a little workout while you are at the office working.

1. Say no to the elevator. Using the stairs can be a physical activity although it may not be as intense as working out in the gym. Your body still needs energy to be able to climb up; as a result your body will tap into your stored calories and convert them into energy thus keeping them from turning into fat.

If you think the stairs will result to you being late, then you might want to wake up a little bit early so you will have enough time especially if your office is located at the fourth or fifth floor. If your office is way above the building then you can always take the elevator halfway through and use the stairs for the rest.

2. If your office is at a walking distance, then you might want to consider walking instead of taking a cab, a bus or driving. If you want to jog, then you might want to consider wearing your jogging gear and bringing along your office attire. You can always clean up and change once you get to your office. Walking or jogging to your work place will not only keep the pounds away, it will also help you save on gas.

3. If you don't find jogging or working to your office attractive, then you can always drive on the way to work. But here's the catch; in order to get a little bit of physical activity pick a parking space that is a little bit far from your office entrance. Parking far from the entrance will allow you to walk the rest of the way. Walking is still a physical activity and it still requires energy so some of your stored fats will still get burned.

4. During lunch breaks avoid going to your favorite fast food restaurant. Instead, take a stroll around the block while looking for another place. Strolling will also help you burn calories; even 30 minutes of strolling is good enough. Avoiding fast food restaurants will also keep your calorie intake at a minimum. Too much stored calories can result to fats and more fats mean weight gain.

5. Staring too much at your computer can result to eye strains, back pains and shoulder aches. To relieve this, take a break. To relieve your tired muscles, you can stand up and do some stretching as well as some twisting exercises. These will help relax your muscles as well as help you get some physical activity.

6. Sitting too long may not be beneficial to your rear but you need not fret because you can always tone your gluteus maximus muscles even if you are doing some office work. All you have to do is to squeeze and release your rear several times. This is pretty simple and you can do this as often as you want. Such an activity will help tone your rear.

7. If you find your office chair getting uncomfortable, then you can always shift to using your gym ball to serve as your computer or office chair. Sitting on the gym ball will require you to use your abdominal and back muscles because if you don't you will end up falling on the floor.
